If you're not ready for the DTV conversion, you may be able to get help setting up your TV for free.

The FCC has asked Best Buy's Geek Squad to help install converter boxes in homes that are not set up yet for the June 12 DTV switch.

The service is being offered free of charge to families in several states, including Arizona.

The FCC is focusing on households with low-income consumers, minority communities, non-English speaking families, senior citizens, families in rural areas or on tribal lands and consumers with disabilities.

It is estimated that approximately 3.3 million household nationwide are not prepared for the switch. Technicians will be helping customers with installation through Tuesday, June 30.

In addition to the installation, Geek Squad installers will:
  • Adjust existing antennas
  • Scan and rescan converter boxes to locate the maximum digital broadcast channels available
  • Integrate an existing VCR
  • Provide guidance on the operation of the converter box

If you are not sure if your home needs a converter box, check for more information at http://www.dtv.gov/ or www.bestbuy.com/dtv.

To request a free converter box installation, qualified customers can call the DTV conversion hotline at 877-229-3889 from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
