CHANDLER, AZ -- The City of Chandler has created
a new search tool to help residents find buisnesses within city limits.
The idea is to help support local buisness owners and generate precious sales tax revenue that pays for city services like parks, police and the fire department.
Many cities support the concept of "shopping local," but Chandler believes it may just be the first with its own website. The site is designed like a Google search page to find nearly anything you might need within the city.
It's called
‘Shop Chandler Search’, with the motto of "invest wisely."
According to a news release, "Shop Chandler Search is an online database of every business in Chandler, and will function in a way that’s familiar to people who are used to searching online. It will allow people to search Chandler businesses by name, location or category, such as restaurants or shoe stores."
“We know our residents are already passionate about shopping in Chandler, and understand how important it is,” said Christine Mackay, Economic Development Director.
“Shop Chandler Search offers the most complete search of Chandler businesses out there, and is so detailed, they’ll be able to map out which side of the mall to park on,” she said.
Shop Chandler Search should be useful to residents, visitors and even businesses searching for suppliers here in their hometown.
The project’s nexus began more than a year ago, as the Economic Development division compiled a comprehensive list of Chandler businesses.
The effort encouraged more than 4,000 employers to complete a short, online survey and involved physically driving through the city to make sure all businesses were included.
Shop Chandler Search will continue to evolve, and new businesses can sign up to be included through the tool itself. For more information, visit
