Arizona awarded millions in military contracts

PHOENIX – Scottsdale-based company, General Dynamics C4 Systems, is being awarded a $54,206,356 contract to purchase 24 Marine Expeditionary Brigade - Afghanistan Capability Sets (10 CapSet III’s, 10 CapSet IV’s and 4 CapSet II’s), Combat Operations Center replacement systems, additional generators, trainers, and engineers. 

Work will be performed in Scottsdale and is expected to be completed by September 2010. 

The money from the contract will roll over into the next fiscal year. 

The Marine Corps Systems Command, Quantico, Virginia, is the contracting activity.

Raytheon Missile Systems in Tucson is being awarded a $19,078,537 contract for AIM-9X Sidewinder (Block II) missile obsolescence and engineering technical support for the Navy and Air Force. 

Efforts to be provided include missile obsolescence tasks, engineering technical support and software development.  

The most of the work will be performed in Tucson and is expected to be completed in November 2010. 

The money from this contract will also roll over into the next fiscal year. 

This contract combines purchases for the U.S. Air Force ($11,404,293) and the U.S. Navy ($7,674,244). 

The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Md. is the contracting activity.

Armorworks Enterprises, LLC., in Chandler, Ariz.,* is being awarded a maximum $21,636,000 firm fixed price for enhanced small arms protective inserts.

BAE Systems Aerospace & Defense Group Inc., Phoenix, Ariz., is also being awarded a maximum $20,340,000 firm fixed price for enhanced small arms protective inserts.

The inserts will be used by the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps.

The Arizona companies beat out four other companies to receive a contract.

The money for these contracts does expire at the end of this fiscal year.

The projects are expected to be completed November 30, 2010.

The contract is for the Defense Supply Center Philadelphia (DSCP), Philadelphia, Pa.
