ASU Gammage is kicking off thier new season of shows!
But Sonoran Living got the chance to get a sneak peek of the first performance headed here by traveling to Los Angeles.
It's Legally Blonde the musical and it's a whole lot more than just 'cotton candy pink,' and blonde!
Reece Whitherspoon brought to life Elle woods, perky princess of pink in the movie, "Legally Blonde."
Fast foward this fashionista from 2001 when the movie opened... to September of last year when the national tour of the musical began!
With the musical you get everything you loved in the movie and then some, like songs and sassier fashions, dancing Delta Nu's and some dressed up dogs!
And like the movie, Bruiser the chihuahua goes with Elle to a place no Delta Nu has gone before... Harvard Law School!
Not necessarily for legal-ease. But to win back the affection of the high school boyfriend.
But when the bubbly blonde realizes this is no easy task she runs to her place of refuge... the hair salon.
Natalie Joy Johnson, who plays the hair stylist Paulette, says the role is a perfect fit!
"I can realate to because my mother is a hairdresser and my aunt is a hairdresser and I worked in a salon when I was 14 so I feel like I've been in training for this role since I was like in the womb. There are literally pictures of my mother cutting hair with the like big basketball belly."
Some of the differences you'll find on stage include a more developed storyline between Elle and Emmett.
Choreography and direction by Jerry Mitchell and a parade of pink among people watching the performance.
But not to disappoint... those trademark moments are still there!
Tickets are still available for performances which run from September 22nd-27th at ASU Gammage.
And on opening night from 6:00pm to 7:15pm you will be able to see the pink carpet arrival of the cast and vip's and win free show merchandise!
