Chitty Chitty Bang Bang has come to ASU Gammage and six talented Valley children have been chosen to perform in the musical.

Based on the timeless novel by Ian Fleming, the Off-Broadway Musical is a great opportunity for these kids from all around Arizona.

The boys and girls were all excited and a little nervous before opening night.

While trying out their tattered costumes, they talked about the people they have been working with.

“They weren’t rushing us,” says Matthew Chavira, 10, “They were very encouraging.”

11 year old Christopher Moffitt is really excited to meet all of the actors and says, “Everyone here is really professional.”

Alec Nienhauser, 12, who has been in numerous amounts of musicals says, “Everything is really prepared here.”

The children will be in eight performances from June 16-21, playing orphans in Act 2 of every performance.

There are also two alternatives. It's a large production, and a first for many of the young performers.

“I’m a little nervous, but really excited to be in such a big show,” says 11 year old Donovan Fiore.

All the girls were giddy with happiness, speaking about how thrilled they were to be chosen out of about eighty other kids at auditions.

Payton Bioletto, 9, who has been dancing since she was two years old, says, “When I found out I was picked, I was screaming!”

“I have to keep pinching myself, to make sure it’s real,” says Sophia Drapeau, 10. She says that acting and singing are her life and one day she wants to be a famous actress on Broadway.

The girls said that it was very interesting that they had to be prepared to see the “Child Catcher,” who will be stealing the orphans in the musical.

“He is very scary looking in pictures, but everyone says he really nice in person,” says Alison Whitwell, 11.

Whitwell says she wants to act on Broadway one day.

Zoe Zamora is curious to how the car, Chitty, flies through the air on stage and she says she is “not really nervous, more excited.”

Come out and support these local kids by seeing Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at ASU Gammage Theatre June 16-21.

Don’t miss out on the classic musical that is fun for the entire family!
