Country star Taylor Swift has poked fun at Kanye West in a new comedy skit ridiculing the rapper's rude outburst during her acceptance speech at September's MTV Video Music Awards.

West stormed the stage as the teenage singer picked up her award, grabbing the microphone and proclaiming the prize should have gone to Beyonce instead.

Swift has now made light of the incident in a sketch for Saturday Night Live where she appears as a guest host.

The footage sees Swift open the show in a backstage corridor while SNL castmember Bill Hader chats on his cellphone. The actor then turns to Swift and says, "Whoops, Kanye West just called. He thinks Beyonce should host instead. Funny joke, right?"

The singer rolls her eyes and adds, "Wow!" before the pair walks off laughing.

The episode is due to air on Saturday.
