Disney’s A Christmas CarolDisney brings Charles Dicken’s classic tale back to the big screen in animated 3D. It is a good adaptation of the original, very dark and occasionally scary.
The 3D is the best I have seen in awhile but at times it’s too good – I got nauseated more than once and little children may find it scary.
In a film that is already dark the 3D glasses make it so dark at times it’s hard to see what is happening, the details get lost.
Everyone knows the story of the miserable miser who is visited by four ghosts and is redeemed overnight becoming a jolly philanthropist.
In this version the emphasis is on the 3D action of the scary ghosts rather than the emotional journey.

Men Who Stare at GoatsBob, a reporter from a small town newspaper thinks he has stumbled on the story of a lifetime when he meets Lyn Cassady while in Kuwait during the first Gulf War.
Cassady claims to be have been trained as a psychic warrior by the Army. Bob tags along with Lyn when his mission takes him into Iraq.
Bob learns the history and purpose of the secret special unit, told in narrated flashbacks.
Lyn demonstrates ‘remote viewing’ and ‘cloud bursting’ but it confuses Bob more than convinces him.
What starts out as a satire devolves into political and social commentary.
Even knowing that it is loosely based on real events doesn’t make it more interesting.
There are a few funny moments but overall it is a disappointment.
