TEMPE, AZ - The Phantom of the Opera returns to Arizona next week -- but the preparation for the big production is already underway.

"It's a big show, it's a very big tour, we unloaded 9 trucks this week and 11 next week," said David Hansen, Phantom's Advance Stage Manager.

More than 50 local stagehands and tour crewmembers were beginning to assemble the set in Tempe Thursday.

That setup included the elaborate gold-faced Paris Opera House proscenium that frames the stage for most of the performance.

The Phantom of the Opera opens at Arizona State University's Gammage Auditorium on October 28th. It runs through November 22nd.

The Phantom of the Opera is the longest running show in Broadway history.
