Even in the warm weather nature has beauty to discover and Boyce Thompson Arboretum is the perfect place to witness the marvels of the dragon fly.
Ayer Lake and Queen Creek are great places to see and photograph beautiful dragonfly species such as Blue-eyed Darner and Flame Skimmer -- and visitors are invited to learn to identify these colorful insects on a two-hour walk guided lead by Arizona State Parks Volunteers Roger Racut and Joe Marsala July 4 and again August 1. A September 5 walk will be guided by with Pierre Device, and the October 3 tour by Joanne Henry.Early summer mornings are the best time to see the dragon fly up close and with help from the volunteers the public can learn and identify certain types of dragonflies.
Dragon fly viewing isn’t the only activity the Boyce Thompson Arboretum offers so get your camera and sun screen and enjoy the marvels of the desert.
Dragon Fly Walk starts at 9:30 a.m. July 4th, then again August 1, and September 5th.
Adult admission is $7.50 and $3.00 for ages 5-12
