TEMPE, AZ -- Fans have been lining up since Thursday, willing to wait hours to sink their teeth into the movie premiere of "New Moon."
The movie is based on the second book from Arizona author Stephanie Meyer's "Twilight" series.
'New Moon' in the Valley! Parties, reviews, fashion & more "
When you hear they're making your favorite book into a movie, you have to stand in line, it's the experience of making line buddies and quizzing each other to see how much they know," said Jade Neal, a "Twilight" fan who's now made it a tradition to stand in line with her friends. "I stood in line 16 hours for the first movie. I'm a huge fan of the books and it's kind of embarrassing." By 3 p.m. Thursday, lines of "Twilight" fans wrapped around the theater's outer walls. They brought their books, magazines, games and even 'blood' in replica IV bags.
"I found the blood-looking punch bags over Halloween and had to save them for this," said one "Twilight" fan.
Pop Quiz: Ready for Twilight's New Moon? Dan Culvert arrived in the early afternoon hours with his family in tow only to discover he underestimated the size of the crowd.
"This is pretty crazy for a movie opening. She (Culvert's daughter) wanted to come earlier, but I didn't think there would be a line this long," he said.
But the dedication award has to go to Jennifer Judd. We found her sleeping at the front of the line with spots saved for four friends.
"
I like the books, but I'm not crazy about them. Honestly I'm here because my friends love them and they couldn't get off work," laughed Judd. "They owe me."
