PHOENIX -- Beth Goldwater started making cheesecakes for friends and family about seven years ago.

Every year she found herself getting busier and busier, so she decided to open a café in August 2005.

She opened her first café in a small shop off Thomas Road and after four years she had outgrown the spot and moved to slightly bigger location, which is where she is today.

Bertha’s is a west coast location with an east coast feel.

Their dressings and pastries are made from scratch and they roast their roast beef, chicken and turkey in house.

Coffee - Cave Creek Roastery. Bread - Simply Bread.

“We try and use local ingredients when possible and also use local vendors, says Goldwater. “We try and keep a community feeling at our café by supporting local schools and events.”

Try the asparagus Panini. It’s their specialty.

Bertha's Cafe also caters, making sandwich platters, breakfast platters and a full menu of other items.
