Michael Hagerty is Arizona’s Traffic Specialist, helping you get where you’re going both online and on air during ABC15 Daybreak and on goAZ.TV.
He joined the ABC15 News team in January 2009.
Michael’s been a constant presence on Arizona television and radio since 1986, spending 14 years at KTVK, 4 years at KTAR radio and 6 years at KAZT.
Born in Los Angeles and raised from age 9 to 17 in Bishop, California, Michael’s family has deep Arizona roots; his mother was born in Bisbee and his father-in-law in Williams.
His wife Barbara has called Arizona home since age 3, and both their children were born in Scottsdale.
His broadcast career began in Bishop at age 15, and led to stops in San Luis Obispo, Ukiah, Reno and Las Vegas before arriving in Phoenix more than 20 years ago.
While he has covered big breaking news (The O.J. Simpson trial, the 1992 Los Angeles riots, and several presidential campaigns), Michael is also a deep-down car guy, and as publisher of his own automotive blog,
TireKicker, spends a lot of time behind the wheel. It gives him insight into the challenges facing Valley commuters, as well as more than 20 years worth of finding the alternate routes that work.
