Investigative Reporter and Emmy award-winning journalist Josh Bernstein joined ABC15 in December 2007.
Since then Josh, has gone undercover inside a Valley clinic where steroids are a prescription of choice. He’s exposed how a federal agency spent taxpayers money conducting a threat assessment of a U.S. Senator’s private 16-million-dollar home while security at hundreds of federal buildings had gone unchecked for years.
His investigation into school fire safety uncovered hundreds of schools that have not been inspected for years, and his interview with Gilbert Mayor, Steve Berman, prompted an ongoing effort to recall the town’s mayor.
Josh has a reputation for getting results.
His investigation into a group of loan officers and mortgage brokers in northern California resulted in a massive probe by the FBI and IRS. Five of the suspects have been indicted on charges of mail fraud, money laundering and bank fraud.
After exposing how the military lied about the deaths of two soldiers killed in Iraq, the Pentagon announced it was reopening all death investigations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The President of the Mobile County Commission was indicted and sentenced to three years in federal prison after Josh uncovered how the commissioner was funneling bids to a company he owned.
In addition, a local school board member in Mobile, Alabama was forced to resign after Josh exposed his ties to an engineering firm with an exclusive multi-million-dollar contract to oversee all building construction.
Josh has also been honored with some of the most prestigious awards including three Emmy awards in one year and two Edward R. Murrow Awards: one for Best Investigative Reporter, the other for his investigation "License to Kill: How a Suspected Serial Killer Beat the System."
The Society of Professional Journalists awarded Josh with its Mark of Excellence Award for "In-depth Reporting." He has also received several Headliners awards and was recognized as "The Best Investigative Reporter” by the Alabama Associated Press.
Before moving to the Valley, Josh worked as an Investigative Reporter for KCRA in Sacramento.
Now in Phoenix, Josh is excited to be investigating matters that are important to the viewers of ABC15.
