Raquel Cervantes joined the ABC15 team in September 2015 as a general news reporter and multimedia journalist.
Before moving to Phoenix, Raquel worked in her hometown of Fresno, Caif. There, Raquel earned recognition from the state legislature for her reporting on agriculture and California’s drought.
She covered everything from breaking news and crime to wildfires, but she’ll tell you her favorite stories are the ones that highlight extraordinary people and places.
Raquel isn’t new to Arizona. She started her career in Yuma as a reporter. There she experienced all aspects of broadcast news reporting, anchoring, producing and even giving the weather forecast. The job occasionally took her across the border to Mexico to report.
Raquel earned a master’s in broadcast journalism at the University of Southern California Annenberg and a bachelor’s at UC Santa Barbara in English literature with a minor in writing. While in grad school, she interned at NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams.
Besides all things news, Raquel enjoys reading a good book, traveling, running and hiking. She’s looking forward to getting to know the many trails in Phoenix.
