Kim Tobin is our weekend evening anchor and nightside multimedia journalist for ABC15 News.
In the past two years working for the station Kim has covered several big stories including the I-10 Freeway Shootings, the DEA's major fight against the heroin epidemic, wildfires and major monsoon storm damage. She's also hosted part of the annual Phoenix Children's Hospital Telethon and reported live from the red carpet in Hollywood for the Oscars.
Making it back to Arizona is a homecoming for Kim. She grew up in northern Arizona in Prescott and moved down to the Valley to attend the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications at Arizona State University on a full ride scholarship. While at ASU she anchored and reported for the live, student-run newscast and graduated magna cum laude. She likes to go back to visit the students whenever she has a chance.
After finishing school, Kim anchored and reported in both Oregon and New Mexico.
She has covered everything from raging forest fires, to the growing craft brewing industry in Oregon, to the Roswell middle school shooting and the Department of Justice's investigation into police brutality in New Mexico.
Kim is thrilled to be home where she has the opportunity to tell stories important to Arizonans.
When Kim is not working, you can usually find her on a hiking trail, attending happy hour or feeding her shopping addiction. She also has an adventurous side, as a certified scuba diver and occasional rock climber.
