Event addresses heat stroke in children left in hot cars

Scottsdale Fire, Phoenix Fire and Police and Safe Kids are getting together to address kids in hot cars.

Event info:

WHEN: 1 am, Sept. 25, 2013

WHERE:  In parking lot of Buy Buy Baby, 10080 N 90th St, Scottsdale, AZ 85258

WHY:  When the sun is out, even on cloudy days, the inside of a car can become much hotter than the temperature outside. In just 10 minutes, a car can heat up 19 degrees. On an 80-degree day, the inside of a closed car can quickly exceed 100 degrees. Cracking a window does not keep the inside of a car cool.

SPEAKERS:  Speakers include Scottsdale Fire, Phoenix Police, Dawn Peabody (a mother who suffered a similar tragedy) and a physician.
