SCOTTSDALE, AZ - The 2nd annual, KMLE 8 Man Jam 2011 was a special event where some of the biggest stars in Nashville gathered in the desert for a one of a kind acoustic show.
Held in the Performance Lounge at Talking Stick Resort on Wednesday night, every seat was filled with fans who won tickets to the concert from the radio station. One lucky listener stated, she called the radio station over 750 times, two days prior to the show, before she finally won her seats.
The show was performed in two sets, each with four artists sharing the stage, playing three songs acoustically. Gary Allan, Aaron Lewis, Sara Evans, and Kix Brooks were among the first acts of the night. The second half of the evening included acts by Phil Vassar, LeAnn Rimes, Dierks Bentley, and Hall of Famer, Vince Gill. Phil Vassar introduced a never before heard, single, inspired by the tragic events of the recent Tucson shootings.
This show was unlike any concert you'll ever see. The artists sat on stage and engaged the audience with personal stories, jokes, and memories of their long journeys. Audience members took advantage of the setting and approached the stage for pictures and autographs with the performers, who gladly satisfied each request. Leann Rimes ended her performance by telling the amazed crowd, this was about the best show she's ever played. She truly enjoyed sharing the stage with her peers, listening to them play, and even provided backup vocals for their songs.
"This is just a regular Nashville jam session," Rimes said.
At the conclusion of the second act, all eight artists took the stage to say good night, when Dierks Bentley started strumming Johnny Cash's "Folsom Prison". That invited the other seven to pick up their instruments and join in, each singing a different portion of the song.
Before, during, and after the show, the artists engaged in conversation with guests, snapping photos, and autographing memorabilia. Every KMLE listener who won tickets to this special event, left the venue with 100 percent satisfaction.
